It was a warm beautiful day in Paris; I walked the city as I always have when traveling. As the day went on, I decided to venture out on a bus. With a city map in hand like a typical tourist, it is the S bus I needed. I ran, as it was about to take off. The bus was crowded with the midday lunch rush. I heard a familiar voice, a young man in his twenties, unusually long neck topped with a strange looking hat, was complaining about his bus neighbor jostling him every time anyone goes past. I wondered why his voice was so familiar as if I have met him before. Suddenly, a seat opened, before I could reach it, this longneck creature leaped for it.
You know that strange feeling when you are so sure you know someone, yet you can’t place him anywhere. Especially this is my first visit to Paris. I shrugged my shoulder and kept on meandering the streets of Paris. It must have been a couple of hours later that I found myself in the Cour de Rome in the front of the gare Saint-Lazare; a felt hat with a cord instead of a ribbon caught my eye in the crowd. Strangely enough, it’s that longneck creature again. I overheard his friend telling him to put an extra button on his overcoat.
What are the chances of seeing a stranger twice in one day in a foreign city? I wonder to myself, “Must be a connection from a past life…”
